Past half-truths and fantasies
Over glasses half empty
And a valley of disparity
Between what I see and what you say
What you say

And I will hold onto hope
Yes, my glass is half full
But I won't play stupid anymore
No, that's no longer me

I've given more than been given
And I've been unwillingly taken
Those times I leave forsaken
But not forgotten, you see
You can't forget those kinds of things

Your words, almost poetry
Not sober yet sobering
They fall almost silently
A little too far away
It's better that way
